V/A - Check This Out, Too CD

ARTIST: Various
TITLE: Check This Out, Too!
LABEL: Onefoot Records
CATALOG #: OFR20031
YEAR:2001
PRESSING INFO: I have no idea!

Believe it or not, I bought this in Canada! There is this big ass store in Toronto called "Sam the Record Man". It was right across the street from out hotel. I was soooo excited to see a 3 story wal mart sized record store. Well, it was all CD's. And over priced CDs at that. I think I ended up paying $7 USD for this comp. Which is really expensive for a comp! Its a pretty good mix of pop punk, melodic punk and plain ole punk. I posted the first comp in the "check this out" series in this blog as well.

My favorite tracks on here are 12, 15, 19, 21.

LABEL: Tank Records
CATALOG #: 002
YEAR: 2000
PRESSING INFO: This was the first pressing on Tank Records in 2000. There was also a repressing on All About Records in 2003

You know Smackin' Isaiah. Don't lie to me! There is a pop punk forum that every now and then have some great and rare stuff for sale. The guy who ran Tank Records posted that he had a bunch of old label and distro stuff left over for sale. I bought this and a bunch of comps off the guy. I had heard Isaiah on an old Jumpstart Records comp I purchased at the Go Point in Hanover PA. Good Times

ANYWAYS Smackin' Isaiah ended up changing their name to A Whilhem Scream. And they still kick ass. This release is some wicked fast technical melodic punk rock. Its probably one of my favorite releases in my CD collection.

5. Beer And Loafing In New Bedford

Andy's Yellow Alligator - Gets Phat N' Stoopid 7"

Who here has been to Double Decker Records in Allentown PA? If you haven't your missing out majorly! That is without a doubt my favorite record store. They have a 50 cent room which I have gotten a TON of rare and awesome pop punk 7"s from. Here is one of them!

Andy's Yellow Alligator (better known as AYA) was a pop punk band out of Illinois. Well (like all these bands do) they broke up and Chris formed Showoff while drummer Tony Tintari went on to play in Shai Hulud (as well as on Rise Against's original demo).

The group recorded a demo tape in their basement called "Pastor of Muppets" a play on Metallica's Master of Puppets. AYA also appeared on the Underdog Records compilation LP "Achtung Drei" with a song called "12 Hour Julie." They also released a few split 7" records which will appear on the blog eventually! They played with bands such as Mr T. Experience, Slapstick, and Tuesday

The lead singer Chris also was momentarily in Fall Out Boy.

TRACK LISTING:
1. They Don't Like Us Anyway
2. Only Girl
3. Dork
4. Once More

Her Candane - Could Be Nothing To Some CD

ARTIST: Her Candane
TITLE: Could Be Nothing To Some
LABEL: Sound vs Silence
CATALOG #:SVSS-03
YEAR: 2004
GENRE: Emotional Hardcore

I got this CD in one of those lots I used to buy off ebay for my distro. The lot had a ton of emo and indie in it from newer labels. And for a few bucks I got a TV sized box full of them! Most of them are long sold, but I have a few left.

I don't know much about Her Candane. Just that they were featured on some comps. I have read reviews about them being screamo. And I would label them as Emotional Hardcore, I would not put the screamo label on them.

TRACK LISTING:
1. Today I Ran Out Of Medication...
2. The New West Mexican Vowel
3. Trail Guides To The New Nowhere
4. Evolve Already!
5. Sex On Locust Ave.

Antiseen - Sabu 7"

ARTIST: Antiseen
TITLE: Sabu
LABEL: Steel Cage Records
CATALOG #: SCR-005
YEAR: 2000

If you know punk rock, you probably have heard of Antiseen. Or Anti-Seen. However they decide to spell it these days. They are up there with J Church and NOFX as far as releases go. A ridiculous amount. I am not too big of a fan of theirs, but since I have a collection of records with wrestling covers, this was right up my alley

I picked this up at Double Decker Records last time I was there for $3.49. Its 2 songs and the B-side is a live version. I also uploaded their 7" "Dear Abby" a while back that you can download.

PRESSING INFO: Released on Steel Cage Records in 2000. I think it was only pressed on red vinyl. Live Things was recorded in 1997

TRACK LISTING:
1. Sabu
2. Live Things (Live 1997)

OK I'll be honest with you. I've always wanted to make a compilation of hard to find and rare tracks. Of course only using my favorites. Not all of these are hard to find. But this is volume 1 of my favorite songs! As you can see, I suck at computer graphics. Oh well. Download this comp and get a taste of what some of my favorite songs are! This is only volume 1! There will be many more volumes in the future.

YES its blurry!! But if you click on it it opens up and its very clear and readable. Download it already!

TRACK LISTING:
1. 5 Cent Deposit - Out My Head
2. Boxcar - You've Done Enough Already
3. 7 Seconds - Clenched Fist, Black Eyes
