Ancient Chinese Secret - Caveat Emptor

ARTIST: Ancient Chinese Secret
TITLE: Caveat Emptor
LABEL: Slap A Ham Records #50
YEAR: 1999
GENRE: Powerviolence / Noisy Hardcore

Well here I am. I am back with the punk and hardcore entries. I picked the red vinyl version of this up at CI Records in Lancaster a few years back. I didn't know who it was, but at the time I was trying to complete the Slap A Ham Records discography. I ended up paying $5 for this. For a few years, I only thought it was released on red vinyl. Well its like a clear orange to be exact. I was Celebrated Summer in Towson MD one day and found a copy on black vinyl. Which I didnt even know existed. That was only $5 so I picked that up.

ACS is made up for Chris and Lydia Dodge, and a drummer. Chris Dodge was one of the singers of Spazz. His wife hated powerviolence, but still sang on this release. Its different I will say. Its powerviolence with just a bass, drums and sometimes keyboards. There are also some very weird instrumental tracks as well.

PRESSING INFO: Not sure how many were pressed. I have confirmed a clear orange vinyl, and a black vinyl release. The clear orange version is supposed to be harder to find. But I've seen it more often than the black vinyl version. I have also read that there is a clear swirl vinyl. But I have yet to confirm this.

Mike Angelo & The Idols

ARTIST: - Mike Angelo & The Idols
TITLE: - Can't Stop Me / The World May Not Like Me
LABEL: - Hottrax AJ 15006
YEAR: - 1984
GENRE/STYLE: - Funk / Soul

If you couldnt tell by now, I am going through my record collection alphabetically. This way I wont get all confused as to which albums I've uploaded and which I havent. But if you have any request, send them my way!

Here is an underground release which should be a classic! And infact it might be. I just can't find anything about it. The a-side is an upbeat funk track which is pretty good. But the reason I posted this is because of the B-side! Its funky style soul with some pretty great lyrics. All you need to know is "fuck everybody". Give it a listen! And I promise to have more punk and hardcore coming up. This stuff is just too good to pass up though

PRESSING INFO: No idea actually. I cannot find anything about this release.

TRACK LISTING:
A - Can't Stop Me
B - The World May Not Like Me

The Alley Cats - Puddin' N' Tain 45rpm

Here is another not so punk entry. I love me some oldies, and it shows in my record collection. I love punk and hardcore. But I also love other music as well. This time you dont have to download it! Just hit play and listen.

Here is some doo wop released way back in the 60's. 1963 to be precise. The a-side is upbeat doo wop, and the b-side has a little bit of early soul in the mix. Puddin N Tain was reached #43 on the Billboard charts in 1963. Not a huge hit, but still a small one. Listen!

PRESSING INFO: Released in 1963 on Philles Records. I'm pretty sure this is the only label variation.

TRACK LISTING:
A - Puddin N' Tain (Ask Me Again, I'll Tell You The Same)
B - Feel So Good

Hissy Fit - Shut Up and Play CD

Sorry for the lack of updates. Being in debt sucks and to be honest, that's a little bit more important that this blog. Although I love doing this blog. I will try to keep the updates more regular. And if you download something, comment! I wanna know how I'm doing, and what you want to hear.

I bought this back a few years ago at Megatronix in York PA for 99 cents. Another one of those "I have no idea what this is but I'll buy it anyway" kinda moments. This is not in my personal collection, but it is still pretty good. I would describe it power pop, with a little bit of grunge thrown in. There is some songs with melody as well. The vocals on the first song are annoying and kinda dumb. But after that it picks up for the better.

PRESSING INFO: Released on Double Play Records DP005 in 1997. Probably around 1000 pressed. Maybe 2000

TRACK LISTING:
1. Look Around
2. I Want It All
3. Later
4. Showoff
5. Listen
6. Not Again
7. Shutdown
8. Other Ways
9. Wrapper
10. Down
11. PR
12. Dogfight
13. Hey Me
14. Blondie
15. Love Song

? & The Mysterians - 96 Tears / Midnight Hour 7"

If you have ever had the privilege, or should I say honor, to browse through my almighty record collection, you would notice that all my records are not all punk. 80% is punk and hardcore, but I have some other stuff in there as well. And since this is my blog, I'm going to bring you the joys of rare doo-wop, soul, and of course, 60's garage punk.

I remember buying a huge box of 45's at norms auction a few years ago for eBay. And I saw this in their and remembered hearing it on the radio when I was a kid. Music critics consider this to be one of the first 60's punk songs. Although I agree its classics 60's garage, there were much more punk sounding bands in the 60's. But I still love this song anyways. I'd like to find a copy that doesn't have the label ripped. Blah

Here is the music video from 1965

PRESSING INFO: Released on Cameo records in 1966. C-428. There are a few different pressings of this release. Mainly different matrix numbers

TRACK LISTING:
A-side = 96 Tears
B-side = Midnight Hour
