Down By Law - Last Of The Sharpshooters LP

ARTIST: Down By Law
TITLE: Last Of The Sharpshooters
LABEL: Epitaph
CATALOG: 86501-1
YEAR: 1997
GENRE: Punk
PRESSING INFO: I believe only pressed on black vinyl. Also released on cassette, CD and Epitaph Europe.

I already posted Down By Law's first full length and it seems a few people really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I have to skip a few releases as I do not own them yet. This is their fifth full length and it seems it doesn't let up on the energy and emotion.

Also, I may update a few times this weekend out of sheer boredom. There is 9 inches of snow on the ground with another 8-16 yet to fall! So keep an eye out for some more goodies. Including Jimmy Eat World demos.

My experience, you gotta take DBL in order. Blue is an extension of the first record. Not quite as good, but a natural progression. punkrockacadamyfightsongs is either their best or second best record, depending on who you talk to. You skipped to the end of their Epitaph tenure and its drastically different than the self titled.

I absolutely love the first 5 DBL albums. That said the DBL output since '97 just seems...uninspired. "Last of the sharpshooters" is just as good as the S/T albeit a different direction musically. But that's what was great about them. You had the S/T and "Blue" which were extensions of Dag Nasty it seemed although with that "California" sound, "PRAFS" and "All scratched up!" had an anthemic quality and "Last of the sharpshooters" was just a mash-up of the previous 4 albums. Definitely one of my favorite punk bands.

And yes, it was only pressed on black vinyl. I think all of them were on black vinyl except for the 7"s....
